Of paramount importance is providing quality food with service to match, at an affordable price. Landlords Maureen and Ivan want to achieve this within an informal atmosphere.
Have a look at the food menu pages and you will find traditional options alongside contemporary European choices many Cambridge City restaurants would be pleased to include in their cuisine. June 24th was Pie Night with London or Seafood choices.
Every second Tuesday of each month there is a Seafood Special Menu which includes French and Spanish favourites alongside British fresh beer battered cod fillet fish and chips. On September a popular regular event returns: Curry Night Menu.
Every Wednesday lunchtime The Chequers offer a Pensioners Special Pub Meal where mature citizens can eat in a friendly atmosphere without breaking the bank.
Children are always welcome ( apart from at the bar ) and Maureen & Ivan offer a special Children’s Menu. In fact children may even be able to choose a reduced adult sized portion, including options from the Evening or Sunday Lunch Menus.
There is a simple beer garden with tables where customers may prefer to eat.
There is no dedicated play area, but youngsters may be able to throw a ball for our resident Collie “Snoopy.”
Alternate Sunday nights customers are offered the chance to show off their general knowledge prowess in ‘The Chequers Pub Quiz Night.’
On the last Wednesday of July the popular ‘Pudding Club’ evening returns...

The Chequers is open all day seven days a week from 11.00am to about 11.00pm or after which is not common for all Cambridge Pubs or Restaurants.
Monday to Friday lunches are served from : 12.pm to 2.pm
Saturday lunches served from : 12.pm to 2.30pm
Sunday lunches served from : 12.pm to 2.30pm approximately
Monday to Saturday evening meals : 6.pm to about 9.15pm
No meals served Sunday evenings, just a traditional pub night.

The pub is divided into two main rooms with a single straight bar. It is not a large metropolitan pub,but a traditional pub selling good quality pub food in an informal atmosphere.
