The history of an inn on this site dates back hundreds of years. As with many old English pubs it is within a stones throw of the local church.
Now experienced publicans Ivan & Maureen Hutton, who have a long established history of the license trade in Cambridgeshire, are welcoming both regular and new customers to The Chequers, maintaining it as a traditional Cambridgeshire pub.

The Chequers has two main rooms.
The room to the left can be reserved or hired in its entirety
for business lunches and corporate dinners, or perhaps a special family social dinner. It is not separated from the rest
of the the inn by doors and stairwells, so it is easy just to pop around the corner to order another round or something extra from the menu. An ideal informal private venue.

The photograph to the right shows the main bar area, which customers often prefer to eat in.
The Chequers is an unpretentious pub and restaurant.
But the informal atmosphere is accompanied by the aim of providing a good standard of service.
As it is open all day and is family friendly, it is an ideal location for a break of journey
from the M11 or A505
So if you are on a journey to or from
London, Ipswich or Norwich,
and
Cambridge,
it is an ideal location to have a break.

“ my wife and I came in for a meal last Wednesday evening. We would like to express our appreciation for the friendly service and quality of the food (even if the dog did disapprove of me !!!), we did enjoy the couple of hours we were with you. We will certainly call in next time we are in the area.”
There has been an inn here for over 400 years. Famous people who have not visited
this pub include Henry VIII
and Anne Boleyn ...
so there’s no need to lock up
wives and daughters ...
